Our frontline leadership programs are designed to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to be a successful leader in our system.  The completion of The Art and Science of Supervision successfully meets the statutory requirement for new supervisory training.

  • Science of Supervision e-earning course: Twelve (12) modules focused on policies, procedures and contracts.
  • Science of Supervision in person program: One-day follow-up on the e-learning course, focusing on managing leaves, discipline, investigations, ethics and creating a harassment-free work environment.
  • Art of Supervision program: Three-day in-person, interactive program focused on the application of the Minnesota State Leadership Competencies.

THE SCIENCE OF SUPERVISION E-LEARNING COURSE

Provides new supervisors, or supervisors who are new to the Minnesota State system, immediate access and training on contracts and the rules, processes, and procedures for supervising employees in a unionized, regulated work environment. New supervisors are automatically enrolled in this course within 2-3 weeks of their hire date. Each unit contains tip sheets, handouts, tools and resources.  Once enrolled in the course, access to the information remains available whenever needed.

Experienced supervisors are also encouraged to review these modules, to assure they have the most up-to-date information.  To register, go to our Employee Training Registration system page and follow the instructions to log in.  Search on "MnSCU Science of Supervision for Experienced Leaders".

THE SCIENCE OF SUPERVISION IN-PERSON PROGRAM

A one-day in-person program which follows up on the concepts learned in the e-learning course.  This training provides the opportunity to practice skill development and apply the concepts learned online. 

The cost for the in-person program is $169, which includes all instruction and materials, as well as continental breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.

THE ART OF SUPERVISION

A three-day in-person interactive leadership development program focused on the application and practice of the Minnesota State Leadership Competencies. You will have the opportunity to build a network of leadership colleagues as you engage in activities to increase your competence and confidence as a leader. 

The cost for this three-day program is $249, which includes all instruction and materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day.
