Ice sculpture of Minnesota State Capitol building lit up at night

St. Paul Winter Carnival-goers enjoyed a 15-foot-tall, 40-foot-long ice replica of Minnesota State Capitol carved by a team led by St. Paul College culinary arts instructor Larry Fischer. The team includes four alumni – Fischer, a 1972 graduate of the college; Terry Reis, also of St. Paul College and now a chef in Burlington, Iowa; Rob Graham of Hennepin Technical College and now teaching at the college; and Tom Schiller of Dakota County Technical College, now executive chef at the Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo, Minn. The fifth carver was Paul Hughes, trained as a chef in Canada and now a Target employee. The team spent 4 1/2 days carving the sculpture in Rice Park. The ice sculpture commemorated the Capitol’s 100th anniversary.
