Minnesota State Colleges and Universities State Fair booth to highlight the system’s 150-year timeline
Contact: Melinda Voss, (651) 296-9443, melinda.voss@so.mnscu.eduA 150-year timeline that traces the beginning of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system will be on display in the system’s State Fair booth.
The timeline is part of the state’s sesquicentennial celebration and shows the system had its beginnings when Winona State University was founded in 1858. This year’s booth, in the Education Building on Cosgrove Street near the fair’s main entrance, also will feature a giant interactive map of Minnesota showing all 53 system campuses.
A daily blog about activities in the system’s booth is available at www.mnscu.blogspot.com. Representatives from the state colleges and universities also will be on hand for fairgoers who are interested in learning more about higher education programs.
Fairgoers will have a chance to win prizes once an hour by spinning the "Wheel of Luck." State college and university presidents and members of the Board of Trustees will be in the booth at various times to meet fairgoers and discuss educational opportunities.
Minnesota's 31 state community and technical colleges, and universities serve more than 420,000 students across the state.
