On behalf of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Chancellor James H. McCormick joins with the statewide community and others across the country to express sympathy to those who lost loved ones with the collapse of the bridge in Minneapolis. Our thoughts are with the families and survivors of this tragedy. We wish them a rapid and complete recovery.
The system's faculty, staff and students have been touched by this event in countless ways. We are proud of the emergency medical technicians, paramedics, law enforcement officers, firefighters, nurses, other health care workers and volunteers who are working tirelessly in the wake of this tragedy. Many of the first responders and other professionals have been trained by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. We stand ready to provide any expertise and support that we can.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system comprises 32 state universities and community and technical colleges serving the higher education needs of Minnesota. The system serves about 240,000 students per year in credit-based courses and an additional 135,000 students in non-credit courses.
