Kenneth E. Behringer has been named executive director of the Minnesota Library Information Network, effective July 3, 2000. Behringer has been director of the Great River Regional Library in St. Cloud since 1989. Prior to that position, he served as the library development consultant for the North Dakota State Library in Bismarck, North Dakota.

"Ken Behringer's management experience, contract negotiation skills and familiarity with the Library Planning Task Force's vision will be essential to achieve a successful MnLINK statewide library network," said William DeJohn, director of MINITEX Library Information Network. Following a national search, finalists for the executive director position were chosen by a search committee chaired by Manuel Lopez, associate vice chancellor for academic programs, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

In his new position, Behringer will serve as chief executive officer of the Minnesota Library Information Network, an integrated system that serves libraries of MnSCU, the University of Minnesota, state government and other libraries.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is made up of 36 state universities, community and technical colleges. The system serves approximately 230,000 students a year with a fall 1998 enrollment of about 147,000.
