The MnSCU Board of Trustees, acting on a recommendation by Chancellor Morris J. Anderson, today approved the appointment of Lawrence Litecky as interim president of Century College, effective April 3. He replaces Charles Hays, who resigned.
"With his background, experience and relationships in the community, Larry Litecky is the right person at the right time for this job," said Chancellor Anderson.
Litecky is currently the special assistant to the senior vice president for student and academic affairs at Metropolitan State University, where he has been instrumental in developing an urban teacher education program. From 1998 to 1999, he served as special assistant to the chancellor, and before that he was president of the Minnesota Community College Faculty Association for eight years. Litecky has a doctorate and master's degree from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas.
Minnesota's 31 state community and technical colleges, and universities serve more than 430,000 students across the state.
