September 23, 1997 - William Tschida named vice chancellor for human
resources; Holds senior personnel post at St. Cloud State University
William Tschida, who has been director of human resources at St. Cloud
State University since 1976, has been named vice chancellor for human
resources at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Tschida's
appointment was recommended by Chancellor Morris Anderson and confirmed
by the MnSCU Board of Trustees.
Tschida will be responsible for directing the system's personnel and
labor relations activities. The appointment is effective Nov. 3. He has
been responsible for labor relations, employee training, employee benefits
and other compensation issues at St. Cloud State that employs approximately
1,300 employees.
Tschida had also served as interim system director for labor relations
for MnSCU and as interim assistant vice chancellor for human resources
for the former Minnesota State University System. Tschida was an adjunct
instructor of human resources management in the St. Cloud State Department
of Management and Finance for eight years.
Prior to joining St. Cloud State University, he was a human resources
representative for the Minnesota State Department of Employee Relations
for three years and a program budget coordinator in the department for
one year.
Tschida holds a master of business administration degree from St. Cloud
State University and a bachelor of science degree in business administration
from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the board of the Catholic
Charities in St. Cloud.
MnSCU is the largest single provider of higher education in the state
of Minnesota. The system serves approximately 145,000 students on 54 campuses
and includes community colleges, technical colleges, comprehensive community
and technical colleges and state universities.
