September 23, 1997 - System creates "universal" admissions
form for all state colleges, universities; New standard application brings
easy approach to admissions
Rather than visiting or writing away to several different colleges for
application forms, those interested in programs at the Minnesota State
Colleges and Universities can use a single application form for admissions.
Applicants can pursue more than 1,200 academic programs offered by the
MnSCU system.
The new standard MnSCU application for admissions will be accepted at
the 36 colleges and state universities. Individual colleges and universities
may have additional requirements.
The universal form simplifies the application process. High school counselors
or others advising students can keep one form on file for application
to the wide variety of schools and programs across the state of Minnesota.
"The MnSCU system's geographic access to higher education is now
equaled by application ease," said Chancellor Morris Anderson. "Our
commitment to 'putting students first' means just that. We are making
application within our system convenient and accessible everywhere."
Forms are being sent to high school guidance offices in the five-state
area. The new applications are also available from any of the MnSCU colleges
and universities.

MnSCU is the largest single provider of higher education in the state
of Minnesota. The system serves approximately 145,000 students on 54 campuses
and includes community colleges, technical colleges, comprehensive community
and technical colleges and state universities.
