Practical nursing is a program designed to prepare interested persons to share in the care of the sick, in rehabilitation, and in the prevention of illness. All applicants are invited in for a campus visit. Recommended high school courses include biology, math (one or more years), and communication courses. Transfer of completed coursework (grade of "C" or better) from other institutions is considered on an individual basis. Prerequisites for the Practical Nursing program include First Aid/CPR and current nursing assistant/registered. Accepted students are required to have a physical examination, required immunizations, and Mantoux screening before admission. Students are subject to a background check prior to placement in any clinical facility. Students must obtain a grade of "C" or better in each course, including transfer courses, to be eligible to graduate.
