About this Program

Water Environmental Technologies (WETT) is an environmental program geared toward protecting the world's most precious resource: WATER. This program is designed to prepare students for a diverse employment market. Courses cover a variety of chemical, biological, physical and mechanical water and waste water treatment processes and techniques being applied today. Instruction for this program is provided in well-equipped classrooms and laboratory facilities that are continuously upgraded. Classroom sites are located in St. Cloud at the main campus and also at a unique satellite location in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Students have the choice of a metropolitan or out-state location for training to accommodate their lifestyles and employment needs. The Eden Prairie location utilizes both an active water and waste water treatment plant as the classroom. As guardians of our public water supplies, students learn the complex processes of obtaining water from its source, to treatment, to distribution, to collection, to treatment again on its journey back to the source. Through this process, students learn to identify, troubleshoot, and solve problems involved with the treatment of water in order to ensure safe drinking water for the public and preserve the environment through waste water treatment. Students of this program are offered an AAS Degree or Diploma to meet their career objectives. Upon completion of either degree, successful students will be eligible to take the examinations for the State of Minnesota Water and Waste water certifications. When students successfully pass the state exams, they will receive Class D Water and Waste water certificates, which are required to operate water and waste water treatment facilities for both public and private entities.
