Alfredo Oliveira, St. Cloud, is originally from Brazil. He is a student at St. Cloud State University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a minor in International Relations, where he will graduate in May 2014. Oliveira was the recipient of the Deeann Griebel Scholarship in 2012. He is a peer mentor and community advisor at St. Cloud State, as well as a peer academic advisor in the Honors office. Oliveira also is currently enrolled part time at St. Cloud Technical and Community College, where in 2010 he earned an A.A.S. in Sales and Management. His long-term goals are to earn a J.D. and a Master of Science in College Counseling and Student Development.
This summer, Oliveira will move to Washington, D.C. for his internship with the United States Senator Al Franken.
Oliveira was the president of the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Student Senate from 2009 to 2010, and served as student senate vice president from 2008 to 2009. While a student at SCTCC, he was a member of the Quality Crew Committee, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and Collegiate DECA, where he received recognition for serving as Chapter Vice President.
Oliveira was first appointed to the Board of Trustees by Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2010 and was reappointed by Governor Mark Dayton in 2012 for a two-year term expiring June 30, 2014. Oliveira represents technical college students on the Board of Trustees.
