May 22, 2002 Board Meeting Riverland Community College A Technical and Community CollegeApril 12, 2002
I am writing on behalf of Riverland Community College and following through on a request by our president, Dr. Gary Rhodes. Please accept this letter as our formal request to extent our local authority to grant non-resident tuition waivers to students from Iowa.
Riverland Community College has had very positive results since non-resident tuition waiver authority was granted to our institution in 1999. The following are some highlights of our experience;
- Our Iowa student headcount has increased nearly 100% from Fall 1999 to Fall 2001 (45 in 1999, 86 in 2001).
- Our Iowa FYE has tripled over the same period of time (11.5 in 1999, 36.3 in 2001).
- Our Iowa graduates have an 87.5% job placement rate (May 2001 graduates).
- 50% of our Men's Basketball team is from Iowa
Thank you in advance for considering our request for an extension of the authority to grant non-resident tuition waivers.
