BOARD ACTION
Proposed Naming of the Newly Consolidated Worthington Community College and
Southwestern Technical College
BACKGROUND
Worthington Community College and Southwestern Technical College (Canby, Granite Falls, Jackson, and Pipestone campuses) are scheduled to consolidate on January 1, 1997. Focus groups consisting of students, community, faculty, staff, and administrators submitted ideas for the name on the consolidated college. The committee proposed a name based on the suggestions from the focus groups.
Based on the recommendation of the committee, Chancellor Eaton recommends approval of the name "Minnesota West Community and Technical College."
RECOMMENDATION
The Board of Trustees establishes the name: "Minnesota West Community and Technical College," for the consolidating Worthington Community College and Southwest Technical College.
