BOARD ACTION
Resolution on Iowa Reciprocity Agreement Rates
BACKGROUND
The Board of Trustees is asked to ratify the following Iowa Reciprocity
Agreement scheduled for implementation effective fall 1996 for the academic
year 1996-97. The agreement, which was developed by the Minnesota Higher Education
Services Office and the Iowa Board of Directors of Merged Area III, covers a
small portion of northern Iowa called Merged Area III and five two-year colleges
in southwestern Minnesota. All persons who qualify as residents of Minnesota
for purposes of higher education under laws and regulations of the State of
Minnesota may be eligible to attend Iowa Lakes Community College in Iowa. All
persons who qualify as residents of Merged Area III in Iowa for purposes of
higher education under laws and regulations of the State of Iowa may be eligible
to attend Worthington Community College and Southwestern Technical College which
includes the campuses of Canby, Granite Falls, Jackson, and Pipestone in Minnesota.
Per the agreement, Iowa residents living in Merged Area III attending Southwestern Technical Colleges will pay the Southwestern Technical College Minnesota resident tuition rate of $41.60.
RECOMMENDATION
The Board of Trustees approves the Minnesota-Iowa Reciprocity Agreement as required by M.S. 136A.08, Subd. 6, effective for the 1996-97 academic year.
