3.2 Academic Program Inventory
Part 1. Definitions.
Program or major: A combination of courses and experiences for credit leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate and designed to accomplish objectives such as 1) preparation for advanced study, 2) qualification for an occupation or range of occupations, and/or 3) increase of knowledge and understanding in an area. A program or major must be offered by a college or university. Accomplishment of program objectives requires a set of structured learning experiences, defined by a college or university, that constitutes a major or is certified by a credential.
Program inventory: A list of academic programs offered by each institution in the system, including each program's approved name, minimum required credits, award conferred, and location offered. Also included, as applicable, is the program sunset date, cooperating institution(s), and other appropriate information as determined by the senior vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Part 2. Program Inventory.
The college or university official program inventory is maintained by the senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. College and university program offerings shall correspond to the official program inventory. Additions to and deletions from the program inventory of a college or university require action by the board.
