Trustees Present: Morrie Anderson, Kathleen Caffey, Archie D. Chelseth,
Dennis Dotson, Robert Erickson, Christine Fritsche, Stephen L. Maxwell, Gary

- Call to Order/Announcement
Chair Mohrenweiser called the special conference call meeting of the Board
of Trustees to order at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 1996.
- Presidency for Consolidated Colleges - Mesabi Range Community and Technical
College and Vermilion Community College
Motion by Trustee Maxwell, seconded by Trustee Vekich, for approval of Chancellor
Eaton's recommendation to appoint Jon Harris president of the consolidated
Mesabi Range Community and Technical College and Vermilion Community College.
The motion passed unanimously.
- Technology Fee Increases - Itasca Community College, Vermilion Community
College, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, and Southwest State University
A request to increase technology fees has been made by the following institutions:
Itasca Community College requests an increase from $2 to $3 per credit.
The funds generated by this fee will be used for technology-related personnel
and nonpersonnel expenses.
Vermilion Community College requests an increase from $2 to $3 per
credit. The funds generated will be used for personnel and nonpersonnel expenditures
associated with college technology improvements.
Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College requests an increase from
$2 to $3 per credit to maintain the existing technology and to provide technology
upgrades as needed.
Southwest State University has requested an increase from $1 to $2
per credit and to expand it from the first 12 credits per term to cover all
credits (after switching from quarters to semesters). The funds generated
will be used to create an additional microcomputer laboratory and an ITV classroom.
Motion by Trustee Fritsche, seconded by Trustee Vekich, for approval of the
request to increase the technology fee from $2 to $3 for Itasca Community
College, Vermilion Community College and Fond du Lac Tribal and Community
College, and the request to increase the technology free from $1 to $2 per
credit for Southwest State University and to expand it from the first 12 credits
per term to cover all credits due to semester conversion. The motion passed
unanimously.

Trustee Maxwell moved adjournment at 5:19 p.m. Trustee Ulland seconded.
