Trustees Present: Nancy Brataas, Kathleen Caffey, Archie D. Chelseth, Dennis Dotson, David Erickson, Robert Erickson, Christine Fritsche, Randall Knudson (via telephone) Gary Mohrenweiser, William Smoley, Denise Stephens, and Michael Vekich

Trustees Absent: Morrie Anderson, Stephen L. Maxwell, and William Ulland

 


  1. Call to Order/Announcement
    Chair Mohrenweiser called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 1996, in conference rooms 1-2 of the Capitol Square Building, 550 Cedar Street, St. Paul.

  2. Proposed Action to Approve Name for Consolidating Colleges at Virginia and Eveleth (Mesabi Community College and Range Technical College - Eveleth)
    Motion by Trustee Ulland, seconded by Trustee Erickson, for approval of Chancellor Eaton's recommendation to name the consolidated colleges at Eveleth and Virginia Mesabi Range Community and Technical College. The motion passed unanimously.

  3. Presidency of Consolidated Southwestern Technical College (Canby, Granite Falls, Jackson and Pipestone campuses) and Worthington Community College
    Motion by Trustee Vekich, seconded by Trustee Erickson, for approval of Chancellor Eaton's recommendation to appoint Ralph Knapp president of the consolidated Southwestern Technical Colleges (Canby, Granite Falls, Jackson and Pipestone campuses) and Worthington Community College, effective January 1, 1997. The motion passed unanimously.

  4. Chancellor's Recommendation for Executive Vice Chancellor
    Motion by Trustee Vekich, seconded by Trustee Erickson, for approval of Chancellor Eaton's recommendation to appoint Dr. Lee Kerschner to the position of Executive Vice Chancellor in the MnSCU System Office. The motion passed unanimously.

  5. Adjournment
    Motion by Trustee Erickson, seconded by Trustee Chelseth, to adjourn the August 7, 1996, special meeting at 2:55 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
