Mandated Reports - Required by Law

University of Minnesota and the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities report on progress of joint planning in the metropolitan area

  • Omnibus Higher Education Bill (S.F. 675), Article 1, Section 7, Subdivision 1 requires the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota and the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to report biennially on progress of joint planning in the metropolitan area. Included topics in the report are:

    - Coordination and duplication of programs
    - Remedial and developmental education
    - Credit transfer
    - Planning and delivery of coordinated programs

    The report also identifies statewide efforts at integration and cooperation between the two systems.

    The report which was provided to the Board of Trustees on January 19, 2005 was prepared jointly by an inter-system working group comprised of staff of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and Senior Vice President and Provost, University of Minnesota. It is the third report outlining progress and achievements in the aforementioned topics. It also contains a demographic analysis of the metropolitan area designed to provide greater context for the information provided. The completed report was submitted to the Legislature as an information item along with the System’s biennial budget request.
